The Weekend Theater is proud to announce auditions for
Yellowman
by Dael Orlandersmith
directed by Antwon Staton!
Yellowman is a multi-character memory play about an African-American woman who dreams of life beyond the confines of her smalltown Southern upbringing and the light-skinned man whose fate is tragically intertwined with hers. The play explores the negative associations surrounding male blackness as well as the effect these racial stereotypes have on black women.
Auditions will be held Saturday, November 18 at 10am, and Sunday, November 19 at 6pm. Audition forms will be available at the auditions with space for a 3″x3″ headshot. If you don’t have a headshot, one can be taken at the audition. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, no monologues required.
Actors planning to audition must have the vocal and physical ability to play multiple characters. Actors must also have the fluidity to portray a range of emotions.
Yellowman will run January 19 through February 4, 2024 at The Weekend Theater, with showtimes at 7:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2:30pm on Sundays.
