The Weekend Theater is excited to announce auditions for

Call Me Mara

by local playwright Phillip H. McMath

directed by Donna Singleton!

“Beware of pity for it can be a dangerous commodity”
Olivia Hawksworth Act 2 Scene 5

Call Me Mara is set in early 1942 just after the United States entered World War II. It explores the dynamics resulting from a blind date that connects two families who are doing their part in fighting the war by building bomber engines for the government. Is anything or anyone off limits when trying to close a business deal or have a little bit of fun?

Auditions will be held Saturday, November 4 at 10am, and Sunday, November 5, at 6pm. Audition forms will be available at the auditions with space for a 3″x3″ headshot. If you don’t have a headshot, one can be taken at the audition.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, no monologues required. Sides may be requested in advance, as well as any questions or concerns about to show, by PMing director Donna Singleton on Facebook.

Call Me Mara will run March 1 through March 17, with showtimes at 7:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2:30pm on Sundays.

You can listen to the podcast version of Call Me Mara on Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, iHeart Radio, Spotify or BuzzSprout.

Olivia Hawksworth – 20. Attends Irma Slocum College for Women. She misses the pre-war social life, but loves seeing her male friends in uniform. She is very close to her brother.

2 nd Lt. Ricky Hastings – early 20s. He recently received his commission for the Army Air Corps and is Olivia’s boyfriend.
