Act Up – An Educational Seminar at TWT

The Weekend Theater presents Act Up, an educational seminar for young people, on December 5, 2015.

The Weekend Theater (TWT) proudly presents Act Up (ACT↑), an educational seminar for young people ages 10 to 24 years of age. The seminar will be on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at The Weekend Theater on 7th and Chester Streets (1001 W. 7th St., Little Rock, AR 72201). The seminar is designed to showcase acting tips, confidence/esteem building, theater etiquette, and script science: goals, obstacles, and tactics.

ACT↑ registration is $10.00 and will be limited to the first forty (40) registrants.  A snack will be provided.  You may register online at weekendtheater.tix.com

This will be a tag team workshop hosted by Candrice Jones and Steven Juain Young.  Candrice Jones is a poet, playwright and Arkansas native.  She is a 12th grade English teacher at Little Rock Central High School with a passion for writing and theater.  Candrice is the author of two full length plays and the creator of Re-Imagining the Self, a ten-minute play showcase recently presented in collaboration with TWT.  Steven Juain Young has over 15 years of instructional and educational experience with the Little Rock School District. He is founder and Artistic Director of the Community Theater group of S. Juain Young and Artists United.  Steven also acts as an Anti-Bullying spokesman who has been recognized locally and nationally for his work with helping youth.

Candrice and Steven are ecstatic about being a part of TWT Education Committee ACT↑ Seminar!  Candrice has portrayed the character of Anne Vanderguild in The River Niger and Martha Loomis in Joe Turner’s Come and Gone at TWT.  Steven has years of acting, directing, writing and production experience.  He has shared the stage at TWT in many shows including Parade, Big River, Ragtime and Caroline or Change….. as well as several shows at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre and other venues.
